The Urban Bean Coffeehouse Café

DuWayne and Pam Hegel began conceptualizing The Urban Bean coffeehouse Cafe in April of 2013. We began looking for a location to build a local coffehouse / restaurant and gathering place. By May, DuWayne was informed that he was going to be laid off from his 22 year career with a Fortune 500 foodservice company. It was then that the decision was made to move forward more quickly. We discovered our location via of a good friend that led us to the building next door to our location. It turned out that building was already leased but the same owner had the building next door(our spot) that had previously housed an Italian restaurant for over 25 years. After much deliberation, due diligence and prayer we offered to purchase the building and our offer was accepted. Thus began the design and planning phase of our project. We closed on the purchase in October of 2013

Demolition and reconstruction began with ferver in oOctober and was completed in February of 2015.
All of the tables, the coffee bar and the window sill seats were all cut from one 130 foot pine tree that our contractor cut from his property. to prevent the boards for the espresso bar from warping after they were dried (but waiting to be installed), he had to park is truck on on it to keep it flat.

The walls were finished by hand with 3 coats of glaze and 3 coats of finish – a project that took over 3 weeks to finish.

We officially opened the doors on March 2, 2015.

We are not a health food restaurant but we do serve healthier options. Our gourment donuts are all baked in house (not fried). Our turkey and chicken are free range, GMO and antibiotic free, no preservatives and never frozen, fed a vegetarian diet, contain no animal by-products, hormones or steroids.
For our delicious hamburgers we hand patty our Grass-Fed Australian beef as it is ordered, handling it as little as possible so as not to lose any of the omega oils that make this a healthier beef.
We purchase local and organic ingredients and supplies whenever possible.

Our consumer use products (plates, napkins, cups, flatware etc.) are all either recycled, recyclable, biodegradable, compostable or some combination of these attributes.

Thank you for stopping by our web site – we hope to see you at TheUrban Bean Coffeehouse Cafe real soon!”
